The Bali 4.5 was the first cruising catamaran launched by Catana boatyard, famous for its elegant and fast catamarans. While the boatyard was well known for its cruiser-racer catamarans, over the last few years it has introduced its cruising line, the Bali catamarans. The 4.5 was the first of the line and is ideal for cruising the Mediterranean. The modern design gives the Bali 4.5 far more space than equivalent boats from other boatyards.
The internal layout is based on its 4 double cabins each with its own shower compartment. In the central area of the boat, on the same level as the aft cockpit, we have the galley and internal dinette. They galley is fully equipped and allows the cook to prepare meals in a particularly well-ventilated area: and of course with a great view! Another unique feature is Saldabari’s 600 litre, American-style fridge. There is also a large opening window that connects the internal dinette to the forward, outside dinette.
The external layout makes Saldabari the perfect Mediterranean boat. It has a variety of comfortable external living spaces which are unthinkable on other, even on much larger, catamarans. The forward dinette area is the Bali’s most innovative feature in that it does not have the usual catamaran nets, but has a full dinette with 2 coffee tables and a huge sunbathing pad forward, across the full width of the boat. If that weren’t enough, the boat also has another sunbathing pad, large enough for 3 or 4 people, up on the fly bridge.
Furthermore, the Bali 4.5 has a huge aft dinette for al-fresco dining, with seating on both sides and an enormous settee running across the rear of the boat (only the last 4.5’s produced by the boatyard have this).
Our Bali 4.5 catamaran is equipped with air conditioning, generator, fans, and electric toilets. In the 2 forepeaks there are a skipper cabin and toilet. The aft cockpit is teak-floored.
In our opinion, it’s the forward dinette that renders this catamaran unique. One of the disadvantages of a “standard” catamaran is that, when you are anchored in a bay, the boat points towards the wind. Therefore, if you are sitting in the aft dinette, not only is your view interrupted, but the fresh air is blocked by the boat’s superstructure. On our boat, you can sit comfortably in the forward dinette, which is also equipped with a bimini sunshade, and enjoy both the view and the fresh air!
Both the internal and aft dinettes are also well ventilated by a myriad of large opening windows and sliding doors.
This all makes Saldabari the ideal boat for discovering the Cilento or Amalfi Coasts, Capri, Ischia, Procida, Ponza and Ventotene.
A catamaran for your sailing holiday?
Catamarans give you a degree of space which is unimaginable on a normal sailing boat. Furthermore, they allow you to visit much shallower waters and, last but not least, they are much more stable!
